craft night is back!

•January 19, 2012 • 1 Comment

Winter time is the best time to do craft nights and we have been on a little break since having a baby and trying to figure that out.  Some of my friends were coming over on a weeknight for craft night so it had to be a quick, easy to learn, and take home project. I think these trees were cute and simple. They turned out great.

Inspiration and Directions

*we ended up just using posterboard or cardstock to make the cones because the tree shape at the craft store is around $4-5 each!

Dear 22 year old Kate,

There will be way more important things to buy when you are 32, so save that money you just spent on something you didn’t need.

Love,
32 year old Kate (that sounds old)

PS- I wonder what I will think about what 32 year old Kate spent money on later?

8 months & thrifty thursday

8 months.  Well at least now I am keeping up with my posts (for now).  This was our 8 month photos. I love fall and pumpkins so these are my favorite so far.  The sweater in these photos, I purchased for Barrett at the Carrcroft Swap Shop- Its a bi-yearly sale at Carrcroft Elementary run by the PTA- I definitely recommend it.  I got him a bunch of toys, books, and clothing for under $40 and if I had needed more I could have gotten a lot more great things!

The Carrcroft Sale is March 3rd this Spring.  If you volunteer for a few hours, you get to shop friday night before all the good stuff is gone.  Let me know if you want to join me this Spring.

Happy Halloween weekend from the little bear!

I started this block thing when I was pregnant then I did it every week but that got to much, so now I am on to every month.  This was my first attempt with a fully mobile child.  It is much more difficult to take photos and have him not move the block– as you will see from the creative block usage in these photos.

Look at me sitting in the big chair!

7 months?

I would rather eat it but at least I let you see the number mom!

Now if I can just get that in my mouth!

thrifty thursday:designer jeans edition

So I would love to own designer jeans but I can’t bring myself to spend that much $, so this past week I went to go “shopping” at the Sunday Breakfast Mission thrift store- usually it’s only J. that shops there, but I stopped in on Monday for lunch and a quick look.  On my way out, I spotted these jeans thrown over a rack.  I thought “they look pretty nice”, so I picked them up and sure enough Seven jeans! straight leg, dark washed- looked pretty new.  I would love to know what skinny minny teenager bought seven jeans and then donated them???  I had J. buy them and tried them on at home and they were WAY to small but I did give to them to my sister in law, so I am glad that I could make someone’s designer jeans dream come true for a buck or two.

All this to say, you can get almost anything at a thrift store :)Happy thrifting…

2 months late- but you know what they say- never late then never.  THis photo shoot was serious torture for my little guy but I had to do something on his 6 month birthday.  This is day that he learned to army crawl and since then he has taken off, so I like to think that he is torturing me more than I am torturing him!

a big shadow but look at that little smile

Love this old suitcase and this hat

And this is when his face told me to stop taking photos :)
