Help me- I’m a mother!

I feel like moms like me need lots of help. I have searched for blogs for moms that help you figure out solutions to little problems or at least some ideas. I know no method is going to fix everything but I think that there are some solutions that would help me be more efficient and I love being efficient. I also think this makes me a better mom because if I am effective than I can do other things with my child, home, and life that are more meaningful and necessary. So through talking to other moms and asking for advice on facebook, I will post something helpful- not mind shattering or deep- that might help you think through the options if you are a mom!

A whale of a party!

I love planning parties and making decor so I had lots of fun throwing Barrett’s first birthday.  I figure in a few years I will be throwing “power ranger” parties or whatever Barrett likes in a few years, so I picked something fun for me this time– whales!  It was difficult to find ready made party supplies in whales so I made most of it myself.

So my son is now almost 13 months and the last photo shoot I posted was 9 months, so clearly I need to get back on my blogging horse…  Here are some photos from the 10 month shoot and I will be updating you over the course of the next few weeks on all the other shoots and happenings around here.

Book review: The Lonely Polygamist

I read this for my neighborhood book club and it took me forever to get into.  The beginning is slow and then at then at the end so much happens.  It was a good insight into the lives of Mormons and plural marriage– a worldview that I had never really thought much about.  The ladies in book club said that the reality shows Sister Wives and Big Love were insightful as well, so if you don’t have time to read this somewhat long book, then skip it and watch a few episcodes of Sister Wives!

craft night is back!

Winter time is the best time to do craft nights and we have been on a little break since having a baby and trying to figure that out.  Some of my friends were coming over on a weeknight for craft night so it had to be a quick, easy to learn, and take home project. I think these trees were cute and simple. They turned out great.

Inspiration and Directions

*we ended up just using posterboard or cardstock to make the cones because the tree shape at the craft store is around $4-5 each!

Dear 22 year old Kate,

There will be way more important things to buy when you are 32, so save that money you just spent on something you didn’t need.

So I haven’t posted in forever! Here is Barrett’s 9 month shoot.I decided to do this one in his room since it was getting colder and I think it was wet out.
